This is a good knot for saving tippet for fly fishing and good for bass.
(Orvis.com has an illustrator of this knot, but this description will help you.)
Thread the end of the line (tag end) through the eye of the hook -- bottom up.
Lead that tag end back parallel to the standing end of the line beneath.
Pinch both lines together about 3" from the eye of the hook, and allow the top line to droop behind and down below the bottom parallel line.
Continue leading that tag end below backup then behind the above loop and then through -- twice.
Two-Step Finish: (1) hold the tag end and pull the standing end to take up all the slack. (2) pull just the standing end so the knot will slide down and tighten on the eye of the hook.
You now have a knot that didn't take up too much line and is strong.
